Sugar Sweet Weekend

I decided to spend my rainy weekend staying indoors, while making several batches of sugar cookies. I  always had trouble with my baking skills, mainly because I didn't have the patience to read every step asked for. Anyways, I found this recipe online that is to die for. The recipe was quick, easy and simple, my favorite type (especially since I'm not much of a baker)!

Recipe
2  cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
*For cinnamon cookies, just sprinkle 1/2 a tablespoon of cinnamon!

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon (optional). Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes (it is also a good idea to check in every 5 minutes)  in the preheated oven, or until golden and cracked. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

*I changed the recipe a bit to make it chewier

I had a lot of left over batter, so I decided to play around with it using cookie cutters. The whole space theme was just so cute!
